I think Game just bought EB's UK branchs. I thought it was strange that they didn't use EB's name as it had a far better reputation than Game.

Hmmm.. Our EBGames-shop diged out a copy of Sam&Max for me to buy... i was realy surprised.
He also gave me the number to Atari's swedish support, so i could call them and get some help with creating ISO-files of my Civ3 discs, and how to get around the copy-protection.. (was in the day before and bought Civ3 from the same guy)

And honestly, i got the help. He told me what version of my program that could beat the protection.

Now THAT is good support! All Heil Atari! [/Off-topic-mode]

EB Games is a good place to find games, prob one of the more larger selections where I live, but the price can be quite pricey at times, at times really for only the newer games.

Get Hearts of Iron 2 if you have not gotten it already. It is the best release in months.
Isn't that a wargame game? I may confuse it with another title, but if that's the one I think it's one of the most boring game I ever played.

Then thats too bad, because its also one of the most solid, in depth, and satisfying strategy games I have ever played. Finally given the chance to crush those dirty Finns beneath the boots of the Glorious Warriors of the Motherland!

But anyways, if thats not your cup of tea I don't know what to say. When you say strategy game what were you thinking of?

I'm willing to say that wargames are strategy games in themselves, but I don't like wargame games. Way too technical for me. Batle isle enter this description, I hate those kind of game.

Strategy games are basically games you need to think a lot instead of relying on quick reflexes or quick thinking. Like Civilization or Xcom for example.

So maybe something tactical like Silent Storm? Nexus:The Jupiter Incident is a good space strategy game, although it can get a little technical. Any of the Total War games would be good to check out, or maybe Alpha Centauri. I don't know what you have or don't have and you seem to be looking for more recent games. I have a huge list of potential games, but I'm not sure if you would have them or not since they are mostly a year old or older.

I played a demo for Silent Storm and although I'm not a big fan of strategy games I did like this one.

But EB, here is Australia is known well, and I'm surprised someone working there doesn't know what a strategy game is.

I really love Silent Storm. For a squad based tactical game with RPG elements, it is nearly flawless. I have the Russian version, and the Expansion which is only in Russian I think, and they are great. My biggest problem was how the storyline becomes Sci Fi and the science fiction units tend to unbalance the end of the game. Some mods fix this very easily though.

As for EB, when I lived in the States I worked at one of their stores. For smart employees it was hit or miss. Some were smart, helpful and had a working knowledge not just of popular games, but older ones too. Others were just there for a paycheck.

I think you'll find that's true of most retailers, and even most businesses. F'rinstance, I work for an insurance company, and there's a large spread of knowledge amongst the people on the phones.

For RTS if that's your bag, check out the demo of Darwinia it's being made by some truly indie British developers and should be a blast.
