To answer the question, Boxing Day is the 26th in Britain and elsewhere - 's a bank holiday involving the eating of leftovers.

Over here in Australia, a predominately Christian country, mostly everything's closed from the 25th to the 28th. This year people have been saying it doesn't feel like Christmas...the atmosphere hasn't been the same as previous years. In the street where I live it's been volatile with arguments, fights and the occasional person running around screaming, 'Help! He's killing me.' And I live in a tiny country town! Hopefully things will calm down by New Year when we're having a street party of sorts.
