Well, I sort of see what you mean. Considering eBay is a large community that doesn't just auction games, but rather everything, from dinnerware to holy grilled cheese. So... I could understand the point of that, but an operation headed up by a flimsy forum, rather than the somewhat better yet still awful security of eBay is not wise.
