hi startet game with dosbox.exe and it doesnt work
file say me that the program is to big for memory
i have 2100xp with geforce5700 and 1gb ram
when i run the game with the normal blood.exe file says:
"src\loadsave.cpp(501): file error #11 loading save file header.

how can i get this game startet? ^^

okay. here's what you should try, to get it working:
forget dosbox or anything else.

install the abandonia version, then right-click on the blood.exe file. Click Properties.
Go in the Program tab and deselect the "close on exit" option.
Still in the Programs tab, click on Advanced.
From here, select "Compatible timer hardware emulation".
Close the Advanced window and go to the Memory tab.
Here, Enable "Protected" and "Uses HMA" modes, and for everything else (Conventional memory, EMS, XMS, DPMI), choose the maximum value instead of Auto.
Click Apply and close the window.

Now try running the exe. Because you deselected "close on exit", the black window will now stay open and have an error message saying why it still doesnt work... but it should work.


Oh, and one other question: have you messed around with the setup file? like change resolution, sound cards and stuff like that? If you did, i suggest uninstalling the game (that is, delete) and reinstalling to get the defaults.

Yes hes right ppl who cant get it to work should use dos-box and beleive me going through all the trouble is well worth it cause this game Is AWSOME and you will find yourself playing it for hours apon hours its just so addictive!

Actually, I had the same issue with Blood being really slow when I ran it in DOSBox. I solved it very simply by pressing Ctrl+F9 (is that right? I can never remember) to increase the number of cycles from 4000 to 9000, and it worked fabulous. Try it.

hmmm... i think it may be when it tries to load one of the self-playing demos that run in the background in the main menu. I don't see why it wouldn't work, but it might just be the case. Let's try this. I'm going to upload the .dem files in a zip. Just extract them to the game folder. Who knows.
I also looked through the .cfg file for any hints of what that loadsave.cpp may be.
I'll keep looking, in the mean time, try this.


EDIT: gah, where's the "upload file" button...

EDIT2: after more searching through the files, I'm pretty sure your problem is in the blood.rff file. It's "the big one" so to speak, an archive which likely contains c-files like the loadsave.cpp which is giving you problems.
It's just under 8mb though, so if you want to try swapping it, I can give you mine if you've got an email to send the file to.
