![]() OK...well, you got the nationalities correct - one plane was German, and the other American. Both of the planes involved in the dogfight in question were...unlikely combatants, though.

![]() Nope and nope. (I already said that the Mustang is incorrect.) I'll be generous and offer one point per aircraft for this question. If I'm doing the math correctly, I think that means that the question could be worth two points for some lucky individual.

![]() P stands for "pursuit" and was the old US Army Air Forces designation for fighter planes. When the USAAF became the US Air Force in 1948, the designation system was revamped. Among other things, the P became F (for "fighter," of course). The US Navy system was completely different from the beginning, however - F designated fighters, and P designated patrol craft, to name two examples. The USAF system and the US Navy system were in place until 1962, when the Tri-Service System consolidated everything. It is still in use today.
Still wrong on both counts. Another hint: Neither aircraft involved in this dogfight could be considered a fighter by any stretch of the imagination.

![]() Rocky the Flying Squirrel hails from Frostbite Falls, Minnesota, and is 100% American. Unfortunately, he was born in 1959, far too late to have seen action in World War II. His Cold War counterintelligence exploits, however, are legendary.
The Ju 248/Me 263 never made it to production, and the sole prototype was captured by the Soviets. Yet another hint: Think slow. Reeeeally slow.
