Well, every investigation needs a starting point.
This might give us a little something:
a) this person knows how to write an E-mail;
b ) this person has an account at wanadoo - so it is likely that this person speaks French;
c) this person contacted you, so there must be your info hanging somewhere around where this person looked (or this person deliberately looked for your name)
d) you supose this person to be dead, yet dead people don't write e-mails, so let's suppose this person is alive
e) you probably have nothig this person would want in valuables (you're not exactly the richest peron in Europe or something)
f) if this is a hoax or a scam I think the humoristic or the profitable side of this escape me (unles YOU'RE telling US ghost stories)
g) the respone was brief - so this person can also recieve an e-mail and answer to it (another point that it's not a dead guy)
h) this person was not surprised by your reaction (he neither denied nor confermed his inital action, just wrote a quick answer, that has no real mening - unles it eas taken out of a concept - could be just somebody thinking behind the keyboard)
g) this person is either unwilling or not curious about the entire situation (or is doing this with a very clear purpose and knows certain details from your life and family history - probably -> but lacks a reasonable motive)

I know this is basically just rambling, but I'm doing a one man brainstorming and it's not very productive. You're the one with info about this guy, so you should run the investigation, I'm just trying to look as wide as possible.

Really strange.There is a big chance that someone is making a bad joke :angry: Who would like e-mails telling he's a dead man searching for someone or something.Just look around everyday I'm getting messages of that sort-my husband is dead but he had 100$millions so I want you to help me....I think that someone just collected an information about this person and he's making a bad joke.And why is he writing to you and not your fathere or mother???This is what I think but I can't tell nothing

I would be in any case very careful until anything is cleared out.

Sebatianos,
I think that stroggy left his email on some other place with the name and that's about the way this guy found and contacted him.

It's one of common things if your family/friends are all around the world.
