I just installed this game with D-Fend reloaded and I also got the runtime error 200. The way I fixed it was to change the emulation core from auto to simple. I didn't have to change the CPU cycles at all. I just played through the first level and I am liking it a lot! Unfortunately the patch will not work in Windows 7. Such is life.

You need to apply the patch in DOSBox, it doesn't work in Windows 7 because it's a DOS (16-bit) application.

Cool. I will give that a shot. I am still pretty new to the whole DOSbox thing. Thanks.

The command-line DOS interface is something you'll get used to pretty quickly. Basically it's a few commands to navigate the environment, and you can still use the good old shells like The Volkov Commander (a shareware Norton Commander clone) or DOS Navigator (this one's freeware).

To fix the runtime error:
use an hex editor and change the bytes at offset 0x14030 from f7 f3 to 90 90
inside the PS10.EXE version 1.05 (from the csmtcpip patch).
Chasm works fine @640x400 inside dosbox with core=dynamic.

Thank you for your help. This is one of my favorite games and I'm glad I can now play fluently at 640x480. To offer compensation for your advice, I can give you my personal map made for Chasm: the Rift - Animal Funhouse - where you can fight with the enemies of your choice or set them to fight against each other.

EDIT 2: How do you manage to get this to run under 640x480? DOSBox lags the shit outta me when I try. I've set the core to =dynamic.

EDIT: nvm, I solved it.

Could someone help me get this to work?
Or, even better, could someone repack the whole thing with the HEX values corrected? Instead of having a faulty upload I mean.

Default Use PanzerChasm to play Chasm...

I like to play games in Dosbox too, but Chasm runs so much better in the engine reconstruction PanzerChasm. Compiled releases can be grabbed from the github: https://github.com/Panzerschrek/Chasm-Reverse/releases
