The exact same for me. I always get carried away, no matter what I do.

My reading speed it's about 40 pages per hour, so reading a couple of hour every day I'm able to read a book of 240 pages every 3 day. In a year I could read about 120 books, so this is not so impossible!
The real problem is that when i finish the 120th I couldn't remember what the first one was talking about

No, it isn't impossible. But when I have a look at me then this won't work this way. Because sometimes I read a book not just once but a second and a third time. Sometimes I only read papers and another time I'm reading three books at the same time. All that results in the fact that I reach a maximum of 50 books a year, I would say. And I don't know if that will be this year. There are several months and weeks when I don't read anything at all. I didn't questioned that it is possible. I was just wondering how one could bring up suc discipline.
And reading to me is a pleasure, too. It depends on what the books are about, though. And if I chose the book voluntarily is in addition to that very important. But I don't think that I can reach such a level. And that worries me a bit cause I#m studying german literature. It may have something to do with my main course which is japanese language...

Sorry for double posting. But since this topic is on literature and we were near to start a somehow interesting conversation I can't help myself to do so.
What is in my focus of interest are the authors or the titles you're interested in. Is it mainly literature with highbrow language or do you prefer pulp fiction?

I'm reading Charles Bukowski at the moment. Before that I read 'La Bas' by Huysmans. I really don't like science fiction, fantasy and stuff like this. I think that's why I basically read booksw of famous or somewhat famous people...

I binge read. If I am feeling down and have time on my hands (like when I am unemployed), I read a novel a day. We have a number of series and I just rip through them. I tend to reread stuff, as it is like eating comfort food.

Right now, all of our books are in storage, save for three complete works of Steven Leacock in one handy volume.

My wife, who did not study literature, probably only reads three or four books a week, but does it all through the year. Before we got engaged, when we had just started dating, she managed to read a thin novel within my attention span. I still have no idea why I watched her read a book, but it seemed very relaxing at the time.
