This seems like a great game, but I have run into a problem and have been unable to continue enjoying it.

SPOILER WARNING! (Only slightly...)

The problem occurs in the Iksai village whenever I get the third party member. After Akiir's murder, I am joined by Drirr to investigate the murder. We go talk to Frill to gain some information. Every time after the conversation with Frill is over, I am unable to move the party.

Normally, the mouse icon is an arrow which changes direction based on which direction the party will walk if you click there. After the conversation, it is just a normal looking mouse cursor, a slender diagonal arrow, rather than the fat move arrow. It is an in-game cursor, since it is a lower resolution bluish cursor instead of a white cursor with a black border.

For some reason, the game just doesn't seem to give me back control of the party. Does anyone else have this problem or does anyone have any ideas what could be the cause?

I am using VDM Sound v2.01 to run the game in Windows XP Pro.

System Specs:
Athlon 2200+
1024 MB DDR RAM
Soyo KT300 Lite Motherboard
Nvidia Ti 4600 Video Card
80 & 120 GB Hard Drives

I had the same problem (in dosbox) simply reloaded a game from 5 minutes back and the problem was gone, try doing something different, like having another leader

You can do everything by mouse. For special action rightclick on the object you want to handle. Mh-kay?

I've had the issue where, after the festival and assassination, when Driir joins the party, you go to speak to frill and the game crashes. I tried many things, dosbox, non-dosbox, lowmem version, etc. Then I noticed that when this happened, occasionally it would say "empty" in the status line (i think it depended on where the cursor was when it halted), and a little object would fly from the right side of the screen to the left, similar to what happens when someone gives you an object, but near the bottom of the screen. I checked it out again, and it was one of those little blue iskai dagger. I had found one of those recently and put it in my inventory to sell later. When reloaded and ditched the dagger before the meeting, it didn't crash. Don't know if this is unique for me, or if it will help anyone, but thought I'd post it to give anyone else another lead if they are having a similar problem.

Hey everybody, just thought I'd make my first post on this site.
Albion is a great game, one of the first ever comp games I ever played and enjoyed. It is my deffinately my fav and always will be.
They just dont make great games like this anymore.

I bought a copy of this after playing the demo when it first came out in 1996, after losing the cd I bought another copy in 1997 and then finally in around 2000 I purchased another copy which I have kept.

If you haven't played it and you're unsure whether you should a word of advice, stop doig what you're doing and find a copy right now and start playing.

I've probably played Albion all the way through about 10 times (roughly once a year). The glitch that was mentioned where the game locks up when you're talking to frill and a dagger flies across the screen is a known glitch and has happened to me at least once on every comp ive played on. It's seemingly a random event, and all i can recomed is that you save before the council meeting.

The only problem I have is that there are no english fan sites for albion and wont be a sequel or another game like it.

(SPOILER WARNING)
<strike>For those of you who are having difficulty with the game there is a bug/easter egg that allows you to get all of the best armor for drirr early in the game. </strike>
(CHEAT/SPOILER WARNING)
<strike>Hint: It involves running and clicking at the last moment to increase your reach in 2D to grab things over benches. k:</strike>

A very nice game, I still have the manual but I cannot find the CD :wallbash: Well, crap. I remember that some fights were very hard, especially against some sort of demon like creatures.

I used to get mum to play the game with me when I was younger since the 3D cave monsters would scare me. They would flash out of nowhere!!

Well, I'm considering on making a website the BlueByte games. That's how much I love Albion

Hi!
I also like this game. I got the CD version from the BestsellerGames magazine. The story, the chars and the world (cultures etc.) totally got me hooked. I don't know how much time I've spent for going through all that "useless" information in the dialogs just for fun. What I also like are the many usefull things you can find, if you don't rush onwards, but search...the pistol is only one example. You really get rewarded for using your brain^^ I also liked the battles, but I think the game lacks in one (and, at least for me, important) point: The character development! I think there are too few skills to develop etc. Reminds me a bit at those Japanese RPGs, when you gain a level the charas' stats raise automatically. Well, at last, one can distribute some points in Albion. Though, I think the rating of 5 is totally justified, because of the things I mentioned before. Anyone who likes RPGs or Adventures should check it out.

So, but now to the main cause for my posting, and also for my registration:
On Windows 95 and 98 it worked well without problems, but on XP there are some. At first, the game speed was totally slow, but I started the "Albilow.bat" and it got better. The intro-video is still totally slow, but I don't mind that, because it is pretty much senseless and all other videos work. I hope this will help some other people^^
So, the only problems now for me are the midi-sound and some kind of bug. I got the music working now, but sometimes it plays the music fast, sometimes slow...no other parts of the game are affected. When I try VDM-Sound it says "no CD". And the other thing is, sometimes after dialogs or character screens, the Keys don't work till I open such a screen again or save+reload. Mouse controls still work. I'm sorry if this was mentioned before, but I didn't read the last few pages.

And is there a way to make screenshots? When I use the good old ALT+PRINT-method, it just doesn't copy anything. I also tried Fraps (simply made no screenshots) and Ifran View (made no screenshots or a huge black picture, depending on settings).

Thanks in advance!
