Nice link, but the article seems to imply that any comic book that isn't humourous is a graphic novel, which means superhero comics are graphic novels, too.
Well, I've read plenty of hilarious superhero comics. And plenty of graphic novels that are, too. I think by "humourous" it means "comic strip", actually. [/b][/quote]
You're probably right. That would mean that Donald Duck is a graphic novel.

EDIT: Well, not the Donald Duck strips, obviously.

Half the pages of mangas like DragonBall have only one word. If you call argh poof meh words. Even captain Tsubasa have a large lack of words.

in japan dragon ball z, (pronounced dauragonballzay) is an extreme insult if som e one calls you it they comparein you to being as shoddy as the animation quality on the show an the art in the comics :tai:

Yeah, there are some truly horrible mangas out there, but there are also some very good ones. I admit that I haven't read that many mangas, but Ghost in the Shell, for one, is truly excellent, IMO (and Dragonball Z just sucks).

Usagi Yojimbo isn't a manga. The subject matter is 17th Century Japan, and the creator, Stan Sakai is Japanese (even though he was raised in Hawaii) but Sakai himself has said many times that it is not a manga.

Also, lack of text does not mean lack of quality. Pictures tell a story as well, and it takes a special kind of craftsmanship to be able to convey an idea without words.

Ragnarok? As in the Norse apocalyptic battle with the frost giants? Is that last thing Lucifer, the Sandman spinoff? If so, good choice - it's ace.
