Could someone please help me out with this issue? Im running Windows XP on an emachine and I downloaded the game off the link fine, but whenever I double click on "hero" (after I've extracted the files) the screen just goes black. I cant even get back to the desktop with alt f4 or cntl alt del. Any help would be appreciated- I have the rom for the nintendo version, but the graphics are sloppy and for some reason when you choose the barbarian it only allows for 1 body point.

DosBox the answer is.
To troubleshooting you must go, the stickied threads and archive read. There the answers lie to problem you have.

It's a little weird though; I'm able to run it directly in Win XP (SP2).
If you're going to use Dosbox, I suggest you also download D-Fend (just google for D-Fend + download). It's a front end to Dosbox that makes it a lot easier to use.

That or you could drag the game .exe onto the DOSBox icon - this actually runs it and that's pretty easy.

I use D-Fend myself though.

To open closed doors. This allows you to take a look inside the room first without entering = safer. I usually don't use it though, to be honest...

Board game wise I loved this when I was 9 years old. But then I got Advanced HeroQuest with all the new races and unlimited layouts. Now that game was good! It was like Space Hulk compared to Space Crusade. Or like a Warhammer Lite.

What to run to see intro? I have both Abandonia and original version (on 3.5 disks and with protection). I can only play via quest.exe. Other .exes don't run. And quest.exe doesn't have intro. Any help? Thank you.

Your problem description is insufficient for us to provide a proper answer.

Please answer the following questions:
1. What operating system do you have?
2. Did you try using VDMSound or DosBox to run the game?

I don't use anything. I just start from Win98. Quest.exe works fine and has mouse and music. All the other exes don't work.

When I installed from the original disks, I think it was also from quest.exe that I played the game. But it didn't have mouse.
