 I don't get the RPG Maker 2000 program. Can it be used to make games like this and where might I learn how?

Search the Internet for it. I've known about it for quite some time, but until I downloaded the Final Fantasy Endless Nova from abandonia, I had given up on ever getting it because the creators apparently made sure that every version of RPG Maker in English was no longer available. It seems that RPG Maker 2003 is not available in English, but from what I hear, there's not much to be missed.

It doesn't matter to me anyway. I still haven't figured out why I can't see text in Endless Nova, and I can't see it in RPG Maker 2000 either.

I have the actual FFTA for GBA, and it is crap compared to FFT for PSX. FFTA has FFIX's skill learning system which is boring and pointless in turn based strategy, and many jobs have the same skills, just with different names and graphics. The story is so spread out that I often forgot what the main story was because I spent so much time clearing missions, and the main story missions don't appear very often. It took me over 80 hours to get to the final boss.
Actually the main story missions can always be selected from the jobs list. No matter what part you are up to in the game.

The past job descriptions are pretty vague.

I'm not sure what you are getting at there but the missions that are numbered 1 to 25(I think, may be 30???) are involved with the main story. And which ever one you are up to should always be at the top of the list. k:

Wow, could you kiss behind any more? This game was made on RPG Maker 2000, the same thing plenty of other hack-job amateur RPGs are made on. You may also notice that a lot of the sprites and such in the game are either edits of the RPG Maker default sprites, or just the default sprites themselves.

The traditional Final Fantasy engine? Why is this game great? Because it's 2D? Did you notice it's not even the FF battle engine? It looks like Dragon Warrior, for crying out loud. That's not Final Fantasy.

I think the reviewer (and those who are raving about this game) must not have really heard much about RPG Maker, and are just really excited about a computer game somebody made with the name "FINAL FANTASY" on it. Games like these are a dime-a-dozen. Go look around on the internet, and you'll find a lot of the same, and probably even far better.

I should also add, for such a FIVE STAR game, you'd think the spelling/grammar would be better. And for all the work this guy supposedly put into the game, how come you can't install it without searching for and installing RPG Maker's runtime package, as well? Did this guy even think about any of that?

You don't have to go searching for RPG maker 2000, you can download it from the utilities section of this site
