Hi

My name is Marnix, I'm 25 years old and I'm from The Netherlands. I'm here because I'm a sucker for nostalgia and (playing) abandonware games are a big part of that feeling. I decided to join the forum to share some of these feelings, to see what other kind of people like abandonware and to have something to do when I'm killing time :P

One of my hobbies is playing low budget and abandonware games, some of my favorite games are Monkey Island (1+2), Sam & Max, Discworld (1,2,noir), The Incredible Machine, Anachronox, Tomb Raider 2, Blood Omen, Civilization (currently playing 3, but they're in general all the same and as much fun to me), GTA 2 & VC, Unreal (only the first), Halflife and many more. I prefer games with nice graphics, nice level design, a good, captive twisty plot and smart\funny dialogues.

My other hobbies are writing, photography, (recreational) cycling, watching art, watching movies and having some sort of a social life once in a while :P.

For inspiration I like to be visually stimulated, be it by a walk in nature, watching cryptic movies (Naked Lunch, Lost Highway, Mulhulland Drive etc.), playing games, visiting museums or my making my own photography. I haven't yet got the patience\concentration to read books, I just end up reading the same page every day somehow. I'm now practising with Discworld novels, I think I'm getting better at it

I used to study photography but now I'm having a short 'break' to work on myself in other ways (therapy). I'll be back on track in about februari and I might want to restart my study photography, or some other creative study.
