I had some ethanol on my cornflakes this morning. Sure beats the hell out off that.. er.. stuff... that comes out of.. erm... cows? :P

Ethanol is just regular old drinking alcohol. It's the alcoholic component of beer, wine, hard liquor, etc. As for concentrations, I'm sure people are at least familiar with Everclear, which is 95% pure ethanol.

Denatured ethanol (which I think Kearnsy was referring to) is ethanol with toxic additives such as methanol which are added so that the final product is unsuitable for consumption and, in the US at least, exempt from the "sin tax" on alcohol.

I drink a fair bit at parties, but I've cut down a lot at home.

I don't drink it pure, I drink it in wine, or spirits. (I don't like much lager, but Stella is nice)

I drink alcohol about twice or threee times a month (meaning more alcohol than the medics would say is actually "good") - so I think I don't have a problem with it. I just hate the days after ............
