Hmm, I was thinking about a film version of Pacman,...

Haha - your idea is excelent, but I'm afraid they'd just do a longer version of the cartoon (remember that one?). Although I could just picture Danny deVito as MacPan...
The only thing I'd change in your story would be the nature of the illness.
MacPan should start suffering from these nightmares after being addicted to the game for too long (he got the game as a little kid and it caused him nightmares back then - he was really terified of ghosts), but he has forgoten all about it untill he got a mail with a link to this game by some friend from his childhood.
Now at a grown up age replaying this game really scares him, so he needs profesional help. Off course he doesn't realise that the shrink he goes to for help is his childhood "friend" who's still angry at him for not letiting him play the game some 30 years ago. Thus the shrink sends the e-mail.
And the pills are actually some drugs that enhance hypnotism - so these theraputic sesions actually do more damage to MacPan.
Wow - you really made a deep intro, otherwise I wouldn't get so many ideas from it... There can actaully be a good story in there (covering computer game based phobias and exploitations there of). It would have to be something better then the lousy summary I made, but something good could come out of this!
