If you attempt that in singleplayer without saving and exiting, the only possible way to do it would be /players 8, and otherwise it would only get you to something like level 18.

single player, and I did use players 8 most of the time because I liked the extra items that were dropped
I don't like playing online too often...too many hackers
Although I do sometimes play ladder online simply to try to get some of the ladder only rares
