I prefer the old Command and Conquer which had more emphasis on resource gathering. In C&C it wasn't that easy to just build a new base since a new construction yard was REALLY expensive. Not to mention buildning the defense for the new base. Gathering Tiberium became more of a escort mission. In the *Craft games I've found that resource gathering hasn't been that hard. Then again I doubt I've seen all the scenarios.
That's exactly why C&C wasn't that awesome and mind bending.
Oh, Starcraft doesn't really have rushing anymore due to patches, but with C&C it was always Tank Rush.

First person to tank Rush wins!

I always fancy myself a good RPG over anything. [/b][/quote]
That's what I liked about C&C. It was possible to turn the tide of battle by doing sabotage missions. One had to make sure the base was inpenetrable and that no one got to one's harvesters. That was exciting and fun. Strategy.
