The church is probably the most zombie infested palce in all of Yagoton so it's probably not a good place to spend the ngiht
, just keep moving, you'll get enough XP after a while to buy freerunning so you will be able to navigate freely around the city. Besides, don't forget you can just smash the barricades of a building you want to get inside to "very strong" so you can enter. Anyway, there's no reason to abandon a character, just think of it as the trials anyone would face in such a cricis (think of it like New Orleans after the hurricane).
