the X800 is very similar to the 6800 Ultra when you compare frames per second (I've got two mags that did benchmarks and Doom3, HL2 and BF2 all got very similar fps using those 2 cards).
However, keep in mind that the 6800 series and the X800 series (that includes X850 obviously) are CrossFire/SLI ready.
Get yourself a proper motherboard and a second card from the same series, and there you go! No need to upgrade your graphics for 3 years!
So if you're thinking about using dual-GPUs, get the cheaper versions (6800 GT or X800), save up and next year get the mobo+other card.
