Mmm.
Well, I guess that this DS is worthless now.
Oh the woe! The DS is outselling the PSP! Oh could it be!
The DS is much cheaper than the PSP, my god, a atrocity.
And why are the games on the DS so much better, hey, my batteries even last long enough to actually captivate my attention!
Mmm, and yes, petting those fake dogs IS stupid, but... why is it so fun?
Hey, wait a minute, I can play FPS games on this thing without a problem! I wish it was like the PSP, that has no hope of ever being able to actually play a proper first person game!
Where's the originality!? Hey, I found two good games in my collection, Lumines, and Grand Theft Auto!
That must mean something...
But I also have Castlevania, Nintendogs, Animal Crossing : Wild World, Kirby Canvas Curse, Yoshi Touch & Go, Metroid Pinball, Mario Kart DS, Advanced Wars, Duel Strike, oh heavens, Super Mario 64, Mario & Luigi, Pheonix Wright, Meteos, and Trauma Center!? How does it compare!?
Don't forget that the PSP dead pixels are nothing major!
Uh, yeah....
Seriously though, I'd rather have a console with good games, hardware that actually works, and doesn't extract money from my pockets like a flood of bad insurance with it's endless need for batteries.
And I guess I can throw off some of your remarks too.
How many games actually use the touch screen innovatively?
Well... Animal Crossing virtually uses it for every single function, Nintendogs has you interacting with your puppies, Canvas Curse runs COMPLETELY on the touch screen, Metroid Prime Pinball lets you tilt the screen (Any pinball fan knows this is essential) and Hunters let's you look around, shoot and jump. Not to mention Mario & Luigi's intuitive use of letting you control two dudes at once.
With the next slew of titles already announced, the type of mechanics used in each game has been incredibly.
The old Graphics Vs. Gameplay arguement has been repeated over and over, and the winner is obvious. Yes, the PSP has fantastic visuals, but somewhere along the line I wasn't really interested.
Notice this website, many of us are playing games that are so technically behind now it's hideous, some of these games only use text even.
Also notice, that several of those games are much better than what we get now.
Now, I love both my PSP and DS, but I'd just have to say that I play my DS much more often, and usually I'm off spending money to actually render my PSP playable.
It rather seems like you just had a fanboy outburst. Seriously, you don't need to be so biased against either one, they're both good, but I'd really invest more in the DS, as it's obviously receiving more attention than the PSP in the market.
It's most likely my problem since I can't seem to see the faults with either system, but I still think there's hardly any arguement on which is "better". There is no solid fact, and therefore it's really quite pointless to argue about something which doesn't and won't ever exist (unlike say Religion or Politics).
But maybe you could just accept that the majority of the peoples that play handhelds are now playing the DS, other than the PSP.
I think this has been a rough start on handhelds for Sony, but most likely their next will be better.
They knew what they were doing anyway, you can't really compete with Nintendo in the hand held department.
P.S. - Your comment on the touch screen as a "cheap gimmick" perhaps you haven't realized that the PSP's media features are ALL cheap gimmicks, at least the touch screen is put to good use.
You notice a gimmick, when you're playing the touch screen, you don't notice it, it's effortless concentration on the game.
It's a perfectly integrated feature, and to me it beats all the so called merits of the PSP.
