No, they aren't DIVX. Guaranteed. Keep in mind that DIVX != DivX.

Another thing to keep in mind is that not all home DVD players can handle DVD+-R(W)s (sorry, didn't feel like listing them all out). However, just about every non-bargain-basement DVD player can handle VCDs/SVCDs, which are what Nero and TMPGEnc generally output to if you're encoding for a CD.

Another rather trivial thing to make sure of is that your DVD burner actually supports DVD+R, and that you aren't trying to write +R media with a drive that can only write to -R.
