Also, a kiri-jolith cleric thief may Start with better thaco, due to the +1 bonus, but cleric/thief thaco over levels is much slower than a fighter thief. Also, the hps of a cleric will always be less than a fighter, because they roll a lower sided die for hps.

A kiri-jolith kender cleric8 can have 9*10=90 HP and a base thac0 of 16 + cleric bonus.
A kender fighter can only reach 5*14=70 HP and a base thac0 of 16 since 5 is the maximal fighter level for kender according to the manual. So my decision is clear.

* 2/3 of your party is elves? Well, I hope you get lucky and don't find the end of throtl with all the hold person spells*
A target affected by any form of paralysis will die if it gets struck by a melee attack. Lots of creatures can paralyze your party members, with spells, poisons and other such things. Don't lose the dwarf, as they are nicely resistant to poisons. However, ditching one of them elves for a kender might not be a bad idea...
If you already have 3 other clerics, you are more than well equipped to lose 1. Also, you have plenty of spell caster power in your party (White mages, red mages, and yes, even rangers) But you want Half-elves, not Qualanesti or Silvanesti. Those two just are impossible to bring back from the dead. Thats really annoying when even on easiest difficulty your level 7 elf just keeps dieing no matter what you do, right before the final pair boss. Besides, I think dwarves make great rangers cheers.gif

Better saves against poison would be really useful, some characters died immediately after being struck by 2 HP centipedes who aren't even worth 10 XP.
My held party members didn't die immediately when struck, I had several rounds of time to bandage them. So that's not a problem.
I don't know if kender get saving throw bonusses like dwarves, my kender got charmed twice in Throtl while the other party members never got charmed.
Since I want to keep my party during all three games I can't afford to take a dwarf ranger or half-elf multiclass since their levels are capped far too early in the later games. The only class dwarves can reach high levels in is fighter and a knight seems far superior to a pure class fighter.
My party is pretty much like the DQoK default party, I only replaced the 2-class multiclass mages with 3-class ones.
I've just finished everything in Throtl and didn't face any bigger fighting problems yet.
My solution for not being able to raise the elves: They just won't die.
I'll use powerword reload like I will also do when my human or kender dies, since the -1 con penalty is too bad.
I hope resurrection will be available in the other two games, if one of my characters dies near the end of CoK I'll resurrect him in DKoK or create a new one. It's impossible to get as many HP for your FMC at level up as you can have when you start your C/F/M in DKoK. With 18 con they get only 1 for mage,2 for cleric and 4 for fighter (9 if you level up all three classes together) in CoK.
