I read a book once and its title was "Fortuna's smile". (The goddess Fortuna for havin luck and stuff).
It says there that Fortuna sometimes turnes her Wheel of Fortune when she's in the mood to. It lifts people on the one side and people fall off or sturggle to stay hangin on the other.
She just turned your Wheel.
Cheer up! The next turn comes and it'll lift you up!
Though I know it's hard to deal with the girls...
But I'm not going to tell my personal story here, since I've already been talking a lot!
