Am i the only person here who gets the majority of news from the radio? Coz it sure looks like it...
There is news, and there is NEWS.

Most of my information comes from the internet. For stuff like how many people were killed in Afghanistan, or latest idiocies spouted by my elected representatives, I listen to the radio. The problem with the radio is that the people who determine what is worth airtime have an agenda that is radically opposed to my worldview, and they stick with that agenda, even in the face of provable facts.

To provide an example that will hopefully not push anyone's hot buttons, Stats Canada published a study, about ten years ago, that proved that single income families with a stay-at-home parent and a CAN$40,000 per year income were better at producing stable, well adjusted offspring than two income families; unless, the two income family had an income of over CAN$60,000. This result either flies in the face of conventional "wisdom", or is a damning assessment of affordable and/or subsidised daycare, yet it did not generate a single sound bite of news. If it was not a subject near and dear to the hearts of of my inlaws, I would never have heard about it.

When I say "my worldview", I mean how I view the world. It is not as if I attempt to edit the world, only that my worldview reflects the relative importance that I assign to what is in the world.
