Good point. Although you have to realize that having few icons on your desktop does not classify it as clean. Some other attributes of a good desktop would be stylish icon sets, Messenger/Adium skins, dock or no dock, task bar or no task bar, and so on.
By the way, Onyx, your startup menu looks horrible. You should consider using the 'classical style', where there's no extra bar for the recently used stuff, but only the things you had in Win 95 etc. Also learn to use your Links correctly. When I was using windows, I had the quick start-bar loaded with my favourite apps, like I have it now in my dock. It was pretty handy, as I didn't have to open any folders and didn't have more than two icons on my desktop.
