I played X-Wing in Win98SE in Spanish not long ago. The language's got nothing to do, it will pose no problem, although of course the game's language is independent from the OS one. If the game's the DOS version, most likely you will be able to run it directly under Win98, whereas you'd probably need DOSBox if you had WinXP. So no problem at all, on the contrary. That's only my guess, but it was what happened with the version I have.

As I've said, try to run it directly from Win98 before resorting to more complicated solutions, I'd bet it will work.
