We never had a set ourselves, except for one castle with k'niggets. It didn't matter, we would trash the castle anyway, looking for Lego pieces to build all sorts of weird stuff. It was always more fun to build something using imagination as blueprints.
(I remember this boy who had a Lego town, complete with traffic lights, signs and pedestrians. We would mount a motor on top of one of the cars, put a sort of "rotor-ish, frisbee-ish thingy" on, and have a propellar propelled car wrecking havoc in the quiet town. Lego signs and Lego heads would go literally ballistic
