Thanks everyone for your previous posts re how to install this game and run under DOSBox. After struggling a bit, I got it to run on my PC, as follows:-
1) install (unzip) under c:\bigredad
2) run setup (soundblaster comp, ADLIB, standard Vesa, English) and done. {EDIT:- I have just read on the review that selecting Soundblaster or Soundblaster Comp causes the game to freeze later, so one must use a different setting here - sorry!}.
3) run DOSBox (0.72 in my case):-
mount c: c:\bigredad
c:
tbra.bat
4) after a few Dos entries flash past, the "Dynabyte" screen comes up, then the Big Red Adventure main screen comes up.
5) Do NOT click on intro (it just causes an error message and you have to exit and restart DOSBox)
6) Left click on "play" to start the game.
Watch the introduction (click through it).
When the first "game-play" screen appears, you can use cursor to find hotspots/items etc.
ESC key calls up the menu (save, quit etc).
And yes, the fonts do look funny, as a previous post said, they are meant to give a Russian ambiance.
