If I would start a DOS abandonware site, I would begin with the oldest known games and work through time (getting alphabetically in case of same release date/year). That has some advantages.
- It's systematic.
- It's counteracting the principle of: the older the easier to forget completely (and the more difficult to gather materials).
- No requests except highly wanted ones for noticing about the slipped games.
- Very little risk to get in the line of fire from game companies.
- No doubt about the museum/preservation ideal.
- Equal treatment for all games. Not: presenting a famous game from 20xx, and burying an unknown oldie in oblivion.
- Adequate growth of the filesizes/costs.
But that's only an idea, I'm not the man to stem such projects. That's what Kosta is for.
