I have some news about the fortress!
Everything is going very well... I wonder why I was so exited about this location in the first place. It seemed to be wild from the description on the location finder... But all I can see around are harmless wild animals.
So... I started by
recruiting my team, starting with me as team leader. After training everybody in their own fields and
carefully packing up our
goods, we
set forth for adventure, adamantine and riches.
History shall remember the name of the 7 bold adventurers who stepped up and volunteered to the task of founding a new colony:
Angry Axe,
Eagle of Fire,
El_Quia,
Fubb,
Panthro,
Supa_Mario and
TheChosen.

Our wagon having unfortunately broken down mere miles before we arrived at the predefined point, I had to make a hard decision between founding the new colony at this exact spot or to have myself and the rest of the expedition walk up to the mountain side and risk having our food and supplies stolen or eaten up by wild animals. Knowing that our food would likely spoil anyways in the time it would take us to strike the mountainside and come back here, I thus reluctantly decided to stop in the middle of nowhere valley and ordered our miners to strike the earth at the very spot that we were standing on.
My first order of business in this undesired situation was to secure the location of our new home. Founding a new colony by digging down instead of straight forward is one thing, but everybody agreed that leaving the only access to our new home without a minimum of defense and cover would be pure madness. After taking advice from our Carpenter Capro and our Mason Angry Axe, I took the decision to erect temporary wooden walls around our only access point until we have the time and the ressources needed to build something better. Grabbing an axe and asking for our resident Farmer Supa_Mario to do the same, I left basic orders for our miners and left Capro in charge of the construction of our defense while I was busy hacking down trees into logs which would be needed for the construction. Having no other work to give to Angry Axe, he volunteered to help Capro with the walls as much as he could with his feeble skill in wood construction. Fortunately for him, Capro proved to be a good instructor for it took only a few moments, while I wasn't even looking, to erect the skeleton of the structure.
A few days of honest labor later, our worries were mostly gone.
