I finished playing the first year. Now all I have to do is to put the story together.
Judging from the time it took me to create STARS! review... This should take only a few months.

Maybe your issue is that you have
too many stockpiles around. If you hit j, you will open the job list... If you can see a ton of jobs which are still set as inactive, this mean that you are giving way more job orders to your dwarves than they can complete in a reasonable time frame. So every time you add a new order, it pile up... And you end up with months (game time) of backlog.
