the issue isnt me not having a stockpile (i do) its just that my dwarves are too busy masturbating to move anything

Maybe your issue is that you have too many stockpiles around. If you hit j, you will open the job list... If you can see a ton of jobs which are still set as inactive, this mean that you are giving way more job orders to your dwarves than they can complete in a reasonable time frame. So every time you add a new order, it pile up... And you end up with months (game time) of backlog.
