Linux never downloads an update without your permission. If you turn updates off, they will STAY off and NOT download or install without YOUR permission!!!! Also, even if you do choose to download Linux updates, it will not automatically restart your computer. YOU choose when to restart, rather than that idiotic "Updates have been installed. Your computer will restart in 5:00 unless you click Restart Later." But, even if you CLICK Restart Later, the box comes back in 5 minutes!!!!! Not in Linux. Never happened to me, maybe it's only WinXP???
BTW, I have Ubuntu installed and it crashes a lot and is slower than Win7.
