Yes, I remember there was a bug in the EGA-version to do as DH86 says, but not everyone like bugs.
Now what you spend your mney are:
- spells
- chainmail
- toolkit and licence
- potions.
All of them cost hard gold, and many of it. It is SOOO much more convenient to buy everything on the 3rd day... (On the first you start in the middle of the night, so only have time to go around the city, clean the stables, get your thief-licence; on the second you should max. throwing and lockpick during the day to be able to rob the houses at night then spend the rest of the night on climbing the citygate.)
I think the biggest money-well could be spending it on staminapotions - but my advice is not to do that if you will carry your character over to the next game (your money and knives goes with you).

QUESTION (NEED HELP): How can I beat the Weapon Master? He doesn't have attack-animation, so this seems hopeless. (I have 100 weapons skill before yu ask)
EDIT: Nevermind. I downloaded dowbox, and it turned out there was a bug towards my system. I even heard the - pretty annoying - sound of the game. Oh how much I hoped in talking characters!
Bugs I've found:
- if you make a parry with the thief leader in the knife-game you'll be stuck
- if you try to get access to your inventory in 'Erry's cave, the game quits (but you can use the item you prepared even just outside his cave without problem)
- the game occasionnly just quits when you die instead showing the death-screen
- the game occasionaly quits when you fight mantarays (they are annoying even without this bug)
- you can get stuck when you visit the castle after rescuing the baron's son (so save at the healer's hut)
Just a hint: when talinkg with Erasmus start clicking like mad when he starts putting down his mug. Else he won't let you ask anything! (This part is annoying as hell.)
