Actually, the word's origination is interesting. Frankenstein comes from the combination of Frankfurter, a pork sausage served on a bun, similar to a hot dog, and stein. The stein part is representative of a stein of beer. basically a hot dog and a beer = Frank 'n' stein.
So naturally, the next big jump was to start making wolf sausages on a bun, served with beer, and hence Wolfenstein was born. Not quite as popular though, not with people... or the wolves for that matter.
