Perhaps it wasn't the #1 funniest, but I loved Gary Owens (the voice of the Narrator) on Space Quest 4 and 6.
He just had the perfect voice for the sarcastic humor.
He was the announcer of Garfield and Friends, the voice of space ghost, and some other random voices and parts. And I just learned that he voiced Powdered Toast Man on Ren and Stimpy. Brilliant!

You know that Gary Owens was also a mainstream tv quiz show announcer in the 1960s, one of the best known, who as a result was asked to do the surrealistic announcing voiceovers for all the Laugh-In shows? That's how he got his start, although he doesn't seem to have been used much until the last decade. I suspect his voice acting is a lot better than his on-stage, visual acting, which would explain why he's made such a hit with animated series and computer games.
And that's not meant as a diss at cartoons or games. Cartoon voice acting in particular is a very difficult field, and there have been some real giants in it.
