Actually, I didn't play M&M4. At least, no longer than couple of hours.

I played World of Xeen at whole. And I cannot say that it have little of riddles.

Yes, both M&M and HoMM are the same world.

No, it's not exactly "same" (at least, from part 2 and on). They are fills the gaps into each other stories. 2nd part of HoMM happens right before part 6 of M&M, and 3rd - between 6 and 7. I didn't play HoMM4 unfortunately.
