Hands down, the PS2. Then get yourself a copy of 'Timesplitters 2', the Grand Theft games, Hitman 2 (not 3) and Ghost Recon (not Recon 2). Then retire. Because you'll need the time.

As an aside, while the PS2 does support on-line game play, there's quite a number of games that are great to play against your mates in the same room. Friend of mine really miproved my gaming life with the invention of a device he calls 'Cardboard™', used here with permission. Basically, selloptape a piece of thick paper down the centre of your telly, then sit at either side of it, and, 'presto', the sensation of link-up play on a single telly.

He's since developed 'Cardboard™2', which straps to the telly and gives the same effect for those games that split vertically across the telly.

Um... This'd work equally well with an X-Box, granted, but the game support for the PS2 is just leagues better.
