All help is welcome. There are certain research that requires large amounts of number crunching. These are very specific questions researchers want an answer to. They write a program that does the calculations but the vast amount of possible outcomes means it would take a lot of time (decades) for a single computer to go through all the possible outcomes in order to find the right answer. This is what you need a supercomputer for. You might for example want to know the behaviour of a certain protiene under certain conditions. For such a specific question you can then write a model from which you can find the answer to that question.
This is not a program that has the ability to find the cure that will heal all forms of cancer but its help is invaluable to the researchers.
