SOMETHING TO THINK about:
Would this help fight the world hunger? It hasn't yet! There's more then enough food in the world as it is - it's just not distributed equally. Imagine - people in south-east Asia export huge amoungts of rice - while starving them selves. They are forced to sell rice to foregin countries, that already have too much food, yet they haven't enough. That's something that can't be changed simply by providing more food. Some governments don't care about people, they just want to export - so they do, regarthless of the probles involved.

i agree with this. there is more than enough food for everyone in the world right now.
its a political and economic system that lets some tiny proportion of the population have vast insane amounts of wealth, while the majority are in poverty.
having said that, there is an argument that GM crops can help people in poor countries produce more, given that theyre prone to drought, locusts and other problems.
the problem there is that the GM research is just into making more MONEY for the western system. they want to charge the 3rd world a lot of money for GM crops that would help them. although communist countries like cuba have the kind of research for developing countries.
the natural stuff theyve bred is tasteless crap now.
we get apples from AUSTRALIA to the uk.. and theyre all the same with no blemishes and they taste of nothing.
apparently this is because the people demand apples that "look nice" and because even with shipping it across the entire world, the apples are still cheaper than growing them here. its craziness.
