![]() I find it strange, yet comforting, that no matter where you go, you can always find an Irish bar, filled with Irissh people drinking Irish beer. I've had to resort to those a good number of times, when finding myself in a foreign country with only crappy bars (I particularly recall the horrid bars of Barcelona *shudders*).
@TheVoid: So you're saying the Italians invented the Margarita, universally acknowledged as the crappiest pizza ever? I want to know who invented the Hawaii, one of my personal favourites. @Puffin: I'm getting the feeling that you're Icelandic. We actually have quite a lot of Icelandic people living in Copenhagen, and from what I gather they pretty much all know each other. They throw some pretty cool parties too. Anyway, I hear you guys like to take a particular fish and bury it for a couple of weeks, to make it smell like urin, and then ccok and eat it. Can you confirm this? *edit* Oh yeah, do they still teach you Danish in school? I always found that pretty funny. |

And yeah, I'm Icelandic. Lots of us living in Denmark, especially in Copen and Aarhus. I can confirm this with the fish. Well, not sure about the smell, but we do bury fish. Salmon, for example, and put some spices on it and eat on toast.. Delicious!! Popular side-dish in weddings and such parties. Icelanders throw the greatest parties EVAH!!! :bleh: |

![]() About the pizza, AFAIK the first pizza was invented in 17th or 18th century, when a Italian chef made pizza napolitana which was made of one third tomatoes, one third mozarella cheese and one third basels(to match thecolors of the Italian flag), it was made for queen Margharita, later that same chef made a pizza that he named after that queen...
Before (in the Roman empire) there were no pizzas, there were pizzetas, which was basically bread with olives... However pizza got popular when American soldiers have brought it back home after the WW2...

![]() Fedt! Din grammatik virker ret god, jeg kan kun finde én fejl (i 6 ?r).
The reason I'm asking about the fish is that one of my friends used to date an Icelandic girl, and when he visited her family in Icelandic they pulled the fish thing on him. To this day he claims that the whole house stank of urin, and that he had to spend the entire day outside, as he couldn't handle it. He also claims they called the fish "pisfisk" or something like that, although I suspect this is just his imagination (or maybe hallucinagens in the fish fumes). |

I LOVE Barcelona and everything inside it (so bars are included), and I love the Margherita because it's a simple yet very tasty meal. I can't understand how can people put pineapple on pizzas, for instance. It has to be a Northern custom, since the last time I saw Hawaii pizza it was in Germany (had seen it in Holland as well). |

![]() Yeah I never understood why people like pinapple either, I can't stand the stuff, I loathe when one of my friends sometimes jokes about getting ham and pinapple, thankfully they aren't serious, but yeah it's terrible imo, always has to be some sort of meat on my pizza for me to enjoy it.
Once when I was a kid and I went to Italy to visit some family, we went to a pizza place, not sure where it was, probably in Venice, but I'm not 100% sure, now I don't remember, but my mom says that was one of the worst places she ate pizza at, indeed some people have many different tastes, although maybe when I go back one day, I've got to see what it's like again.
