First of all, I see that you have registered, so let me welcome you to the forum!

Brice is the big bearded guy in green/brown clothes.

I was about to look for the CD-ROMs containing Anvil of Dawn and saved game files last night, when suddenly there was an electricity blackout in my area, forcing me to cancel my searching. Well, that happens rather often in a backwater area like mine. So, the search for the CD-ROMs has to wait until tonight after work. It'll take a few days, please be patient, sorry for that. I'm downloading your saved game files as I am typing this post.

In the meantime, I would like to suggest Lands of Lore, if you haven't played that yet. If you like Anvil of Dawn, you will like Lands of Lore. Sadly it is no longer available from Abandonia.
Thank you

And don't apologize, even if it takes a few days, it's ok
You live in a backwater area ? What's this ? (my english is so bad )

Link : I don't think the cinematics are here... But sound is included.

@kuranes

The character you choose is Ianmyrth.

I have tested your two saved game files, and yes that crab-like thing appeared. I cannot figure out what it is or how/why does it appear in the first place. Very, very strange

Okay, the size of my 579 saved game files in .rar (using WinRar) format is around 25MB. Without the .rar format they will be over 100MB. I am not sure I can send the whole thing, so for now I'll just attach 1 save game file, which is right after Brice entered the undersea maze. I hope it'll be fine. Let me know if you still like the other files.

Here's the link: http://www.savefile.com/files/1136136
Don't forget to rename the file as SAVE00.DAT.

Oh yes, not too sure what the exact meaning is (since English is not my first language), but I think backwater means a rather underdevelopment area

Anvil of dawn has always been overrated to me. I felt it then, i feel it now. The only cool feature of this game is the way you cast spells. The rest is just a glorified dungeon crawler.

Have a good day... or night...

EDIT : I just tried the save you gave me, it works perfectly... Thank you, again

Well, if you feel that way, then I take it you have a recommendation of a similar but much better game? Could you please recommend some? Thanks in advance.

I sort of deduced it, based on your caramail account, since I once had a pen friend from French with caramail account Too bad we lost contact several years back. Even worse I have completely forgot the e-mail address now. Anyway, glad the save game file worked for you. Enjoy the game! k:

Well, the best of the best is Daggerfall (Elder scrolls II), even though it's full of bugs. But it's not abandonware.
Here, on Abandonia you could check World of Xeen, or Wizardry VII.
But Anvil is not bad. It's just not as good to me as it is to some people who are really enthusiastic.

I have never tried Daggerfall, just heard that it is really buggy even with patches applied. Well, maybe if it becomes abandonware someday (hope so), I will try it.

World of Xeen is definitely not for me, 'cause I do not prefer turn-based combat system. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against the idea of turn-based combat system, and there is nothing wrong with it. It's simply just not my cup of tea, that's all. If I'm not mistaken, Wizardry VII's combat system is also turn-based, so again I'll pass that one.

Then you can try Dungeon Master 2. Menzoberranzan is cool too, but not better than Anvil (even worse maybe). The eye of the beholder series is cool but they are ESA.

I have tried Dungeon Master 2 several months back, didn't get very far though. Maybe I'll try again someday.

I also have tried Menzoberranzan, even before it is put up here in Abandonia. Somehow the fluid movement (as opposed to frame-by-frame like in Lands of Lore and Anvil of Dawn) gave me headache (literally), which is very strange since I have played a number of FPS (First Person Shooter) and do not get headache after playing. It's just that one particular game Menzoberranzan that does it.

Lucky me, I have downloaded the Eye of Beholder series from Abandonia long before the ESA incident. Agree on these games, they are k:
