And since 3 of the 4 topics I was involved in were shut down, perhaps we will see the demise of this thread soon. Just because I said so.* :bleh:
...un...be...lievable...And o m g, just because you and I do not see eye to eye on certain things, does not mean we don't on everything. I, obviously, am a conservative, and you are (from my experience) very liberal. We will of course have different views. However, that doesn't change the fact of what could be done to help make this board better.

In topics where flaming and spamming becomes an issue, I figure the easiest thing to do would be to delete the spam/flame posts. Leave the thread available, as long as it is a LEGITAMATE discussion, but just because some dopes flame and spam, don't close it, because that just pisses off those who are enjoying the topic. I saw delete the posts and warn the posters.

Also, just curious, what exactly does warning do? If you hit a certain percentage, do you lose posting privelages or something? If so, at what levels are restrictions given (it would be nice to know.)

And I still believe the administrators are doing way too much work of the mods, but that is just my oppinion. Who knows, maybe Titan and Kosta and Data absolutely LOVE scolding and "shame-on-you"-ing us board members for being idiots instead of doing things to make the site better. But, then again, what do I know anyway.

Edit: Although...hehe...I do believe Titan gets a certain thrill from punishing newb spammers and free advertisers. I still chuckle at the guy that got the Nuke from Titan, with -16000 posts or something like that. Banned for a hundred years. That made me smile

I think you need some explanations here.
The main job of mods is to pay attention to eventual flaming/trolling/spamming and to keep forums tidied (that is, merging two topics if they're dealing with the same argument, and merging multiple posts in one). However, our power when it comes to "punishing" is very limited.

Let me give you an example. If Dick Spammer flames someone in J.F.Honest Member's thread, this is the course of action we can take.

1- Close the topic to prevent further spamming - It would hurt other people who're not involved in Dick's behaviour, so NO.
2- Delete the flaming post - so Dick could say he's never flamed anyone? (happened in the past), I'd say NO.
3- Move the topic to Admin forum - the topic is made of posts by other people, so it's extremely unfair to make it unavailable because of one single moron. Besides, we mods cannot move topics to Admin forum. So, again, NO.
4- Warn the guy - this is acceptable. However, we mods have limited warning power. We cannot give more warnings at once, therefore if we're dealing with a very stubborn spammer he won't give up for a futile 20% (Actually, a lot of very good members have 20% warning because of some little mistakes they made, and they're not spammers at all). So, in case of a persisten spammer, this is the best course of action:
5- Contact an admin, because he's the one who has the power. He can give 99999% warning if he likes, cut the postcount of the spammer and get the deeds of his house, He also has that sweet ability that goes by the name of banning.

As you can see, we mods can be as hard as we can, but when it comes to dealing with annoying people, admins are absolutely needed.

Some problems came up, however I think we're on the way of fixing things.

I don't like to see all these people leave.
I don't know whether I am part of the problem. If so, I'm willing to step back; I would hate to see this forum go into decline...

I'm now a 3x Blah mod, which means I'll be able to sort out any problems in here you may or may not have, just PM me or report the post in question.

It's not new, nor is it custom. It's the default title for those with over 2500 posts (Iron_Scarecrow has the same title).

And why are you not VIP, RH?

Congratutlation on new title and new function.

May the force (of pressing delete / edit button) be with you!

As for those who are thinking of leaving: There is a lot of members who did not post any good bye post, but are missing for some time now. I guess that's the way life goes.

I can't delete posts (apart from my own, obviously) but I can edit and if I ever want get rid of any spam out of a thread I'll move it to a dustbin thread that the admins can clear up later.
