Does anyone give a damn? If a person wants to listen to ceritain music, one will find a way.* Underaged or not. I doubt there are many in here that can't download (illegal as it may be), or burn cd's. And hey, if you can't, some of your friends must be able to! Too bad I'm not 18 and can't buy it. Well.. I'll get it for free!!
I'm not reccomending people to download instead of buying, I'm just facing reality.

One question (that I won't see answers to before I leave town anyways...):
Do stores in other countries really give a damn about it? If a 10yo walks to the register with a cd marked Parental Advisory, does the clerck say "Nopes, sorry man, you're too young! Now go home to mommy!!"?
I've never heard of it happening here, except with video games that get lots of media coverage, like GTA. Some angry feminists were bithcing in the news about it, so the stores tightened the security concerning it.
Some of the staff in those stores are even younger than 18 themselves, heck, younger than 16, so it's not like it's hard to buy it anyways.

Now my point of view.
I think this is a good thing, but it's impossible to follow stricktly. It's a good sign of "status", if i could say so. So it won't surprice you* :bleh:

Anyways... I'm late.
Bye!
USA is one of rare countries that follow the PA and movie ratings.

For example, my brother was not able (without my help ) to see American Pie in Movie Theater, because he was under 17 at the time movie was released.

You can't get M rated games or R rated movies in rental stores or media stores if you underage.

Same goes for alcohol and cigarettes.

From this example country, I don't see those PA and movie/game ratings do any good.

As for first post, of course it was joke. None of that stuff on the label is true!

(I believe that all 'holy' books should have label like that. That might make this planed much more better place to live on )

The labels are more to protect the companys anymore from getting sued it seems, similar to Tobacco warnings I suppose. Not that anyone ever pays attention to them that really wants the product. With all those silly lawsuits though its just better that they put the stupid label on so people don't get Grand Theft Auto and confuse it with Captain Bible or something. (That last part was a bit sarcastic just to warn ya)

In fact the labels usually serve to make a game more popular, just like if a politican talks about moral outrage about a game it helps it sell more copys. When I design or write stuff I always hope that someone in charge will find it offensive and condemn it because it gets more people to buy it. Who really listens to the moral issues a politican cares about anyway. Those that do aren't the type of customers you want anyway.

Oh its all a joke really....they do it to get some people to vote for them by taking a strong stand on video games or a Television show. Not much you can do about people that want to get self righteous other than get them to vote for you.
It is obnoxious though, instead of people being parents they want the censors to do their work for them.

But most publishers like the attention of some overpaid political figure bashing their product as it will get you a bestseller. Appearing as a rebel against the authoritys is a sure way to get some sales- and both the politican and the publishers know it pretty well.

Take Bob Dole for instance...he used to always point out how evil something was based on sex or violence...after his politics career ended he became a commerical spokesman for Viagra and flirted with women about 1/4 his age- he would of called for the commerical to have been banned if he was still trying to be president

At any rate its safer to be morally outraged at a game than it is to have a real political issue to fight about- if you want to be elected

Being a christian myself, i have to say that is waaayyy over the top. I once had a sticker "This item is prepared for 2000" on my Bible. But that one is !
Parental Advisory is OK, but I don't think CDs with explicit lyrics need them.

Heh, that sticker reminds me of the Hitchikers Guide to the galaxy....."and so the missing page was found...."all things in this book are fiction and any resemblence to real live people is purely coincidential."
Ummm...I'm all for PA, even if it meesn I can't get a lot of games, but, I wouldn't want some lil kid going around playing GTA because his parents didnt know anything about it, even tho theres pictures on the back...

It's a useful tool to help (responsible) parents control what their kids are exposed to.

Wasn't that "The following is fictional..." joke done in Red Dwarf too?
