What can he do to save himself? Well... The obvious answer would be to do nothing, but as that has been ruled out (By means of vomit inducing torture) I would have to ask the question, which would be the quicker death? And in which way save himself? To save his life or to save his soul?

meaning, save himself from dying...what can he say that would save his life? Example, if his name is bob, and he says "My name is John" he will be hung. If he says "My name is Bob" he will be shot. What can he say that will keep him from dying?
