I can confirm; It works just fine on Windows 98. I had some problems with the music, but that might have just been my MIDI engine.

I have a problem starting TTD in windows XP. I have downloaded TTD, I have run the Runme!.reg file, and then started the game. It started normaly. The second day i've tried to started again but this time the game didn't want to start. Please, can anyone help me?

So far it doesn't look like anyone else has had this problem, so I'll ask it.

Every new train that has come out so far, I have been able to build...then all of a sudden, 2 new trains that came out after the AsianStar, I can't seem to build because it's not listed under the New Vehicles list. I remember seeing the little message pop up for both newer trains so even though they are "supposedly" there, they aren't. I want to use the newer trains so bad, but I can't Someone PLEASE help me

I don't have the patch downloaded on the computer that I play on, if that makes a difference.

After a while you will have a new kind of train available and you will need to build a new kind of track to be able to make them run. The track is one rail instead of two. To access them, I beleive you need to click on the train icon and choose either for regular trains or the new kind.

I personally hardly ever played with those trains because I'm so fond in trying to break the record of The Transport Tycoon Deluxe Challenge. This mean that I usually stop playing way before 1990...

By what I remember, those trains are really faster tough you will need to change every track if you want to switch to them. There is no way around this.

I am new to Transport Tycoon Deluxe. Can anybody tell me how to make the boats carry only wood.

You buy transports and refit them for woods. Same for aircrafts.

Here is a great cheat for big bucks
Just follow this :
Step 1:
-------
When a company is about to go bankrupt and asks
you if you would like to purchase the company, say "No".
Step 2:
-------
Open up that company's window and purchase 75% of
their stock. DO NOT CLOSE THAT WINDOW!
Step 3:
-------
Move the window off to the side of the screen and
forget about it for 3 months of game time. The computer
player will be declared bankrupt, but the displayed value
of the company in the STILL OPEN company window will be
in the millions!
Step 4:
-------
Sell the 75% of the company you own and you'll
make a bundle!

Warning!!!
This has crashed my system on several occasions!

The tutorial seemed quite screwed for me too. Perhaps if you want to see the tutorial you should set the newspaper option for each option so it doesn't "jump" on the screen when something happen. This way the "hand" won't mess up it's commands.

We bought the game in the UK in 2001, but never had a PC big enough to play the game.
Now his dream came true and he has the PC, loaded the game (we have XP running) and now? Problems.
When he tries to play a message comes up saying "The system cannot open the com3 port requested by this application. Click on close to terminate."

A choice between "Close" and "Ignore" comes up.

Apon clicking "Ignore" the same message comes up, but now refers to com4.

Is the PC coo-coo or will it work if we download this patch I read about on this site? He doesn't have problems playing other games like Commando's and Stronghold etc.
