i get a bit defensive over wind turbines. the reosen being that i know that if the goverment had spent half the money that they spent on nuke power on wind power scince the 1950s then we would have no need for nuke power stations.
(also there is a huge one outside my window and i think its rather lovely)
there is enougth wind energy around the british isles to power us 3 or 4 times over. the thing is solar and wind power is a developing technoligy. i have had people try to say that it is ineficiant and they have dug up statistics from the early 1980's! modern turbines are extremely cost efficent. and they are a lot more efficent than solar. people only reaLLY Use solar as a kind of extra really as the voltages generated are much less than the turbines. however this bowl technolgy sounds rather interesting. one of the other problems the solar industry faces though is that all the good silicon gets taken up by the computer industry and there need to bring out a new chip that is only slightly faster than the last chip evry few months. it has inflated the cost of silicon and made panels a lot more expensive to produce as the chip manufacturers get all the high quality silicon. meaning you get panels that are made with tiny strips of lower quality silicon. if you have a link to the bowl thing your freind loves tho i would love to see it
