I have to say that there are not many third-world countries with oil. Kuwait and the UAE are some of the richest countries in the world, Iraq used to be as good as the UK (In the cities, anyway) and the only thing that makes them poor is that they have corrupt leaders.

Apart from Iraq, of course, which just got blown back into the stone age.





I have to say that IMO the reason people are using fossil fuels is because they are easily available and also contain a massive amout of energy in a very small area. Also, if you could really be arsed, synthetic fossil fuels would not be too hard to make, as due to the first law of Thermodynamics, nothing ever just ´dissapears´at all.

If you burn coal, what you get is what it is made of. If you tried hard enough then you could stick them together again. Even a ten-year timespan would not be bad, as it´s not like there isn´t surfeit of oil, coal and gas around.

That said, nuclear power is easily attainable and you only need fifty tons of Uranium a year to power quite a large power station, unlike the 1000 tons (or something like that, it´s a ridiculously large amount) a day of coal needed for the same energy output.

Renewable energy sources are a nice idea, but to be honest at this point in time you need such a large amount of time and energy to be spent creating them that you might as well not bother.

Incorrect. Those weapons will leak sometime soon and the land they´re in will be irradiated for the next ten thousand years.

No weapon can harm you until you BUILD it you mean. The radiation cannot leak out of plans in your brain, and that juggernaught design will not plow through your house...

Look it's very simple. Humans are very limited with their natural capabilities. Therefore they developed weapons (doesn't matter if it's a pointy rock you can hit an attacking mountain-lion with, or a nuclear missle head).
It's the creation of weapons that is generally the most productive part of the human research. In order to gain an advantige of any and all probable enemies people developed just about everything:
Computers were first developed to calculate the missles projectory.
Missles were made to make greater damage to the enemy.
Most inventions we have today were at least partialy developed for the use of the military (thus have a role in the devestating capabileties of any army). But this progress has always been a two sided blade.

To make it short:
Without nuclear power there is no future, so I'm for it (even as a weapon, as long as it's not used). But as soon as it can be replaced by a safer source it should be!

They should make fusion bombs then. They don't leak stuff that will kill the earth until they are leaked. Or was that Hydrogen bombs? Hmmm. One of the other is actually very pollutive, gotta look into that.
