yeah i cant get sound to work either, it isnt actually available in the option menu i've noticed, you can't select sound to be on. Im running on Windows ME i dont know if thats the problem?

ive now got it to work, using comm with the new settings through dos box worked a treat, time to re-live those memories, what a classic!

i tried every port in the install menu with both the dune.bat and the comm.bat and still the sound never works

Remember that sound might not work without VDMSound / DOSBox.
Also, if the setup utility still isn't saving the settings properly, you can always edit the DUNE.BAT yourself. Replace the last line with:
- duneprg ENG VGA SDB2207 EMS 386 (for Soundblaster Port 220 IRQ 7 sound)
- duneprg ENG VGA ADL EMS 386 (for Adlib Sound)

but the voices of the characters still dont

There's only voices in the full CD version, so you'll have to settle for text :P

i am now downloading the full cd version, i didnt know there where 2 versions of the game.

well i got the full cd-version now but i dont have sound again, because if i do the same thing as with the other version i just get a black screen and then it doesnt do anything anymore

Iirc, the executable of the CD version is named different. Replace "duneprg" with the correct filename (I think it's "duncdprg" or something).

well now the voices work but the music doesnt

Check if it's On (and the volume) in the in-game options? Try to run the setup utility? Otherwise I'm all out of ideas.
