Or the viscious sand storm blew the rock into his head killing him instantly then the sandstorm covered his tracks and blew the rock a couple hundred metres away and any other eveidence.

He's an alien, and that rock is his ship? And maybe easier riddle: I have rivers without water, Forests without trees, Mountains without rocks Towns without houses. What am I? |

a1s, he's Superman and the rock is cryptonite (or however you spell it), isn't it..?
And WaAn, sounds like a map, doesn't it..? Man, if that first one is correct, I'm proud of that. I had heard a similar riddle before, but I didn't remember it until after I came up with that answer. Your hint about the fictional character helped a lot, I just started thinking of fictional characters who could fly, and how a rock could possibly kill them.
